The Ministry Need

When Lincolnway Christian Church began searching for a new Worship Director, they were looking for someone who could do more than lead worship on Sunday mornings.

The church needed a leader who could guide worship and production, work closely with the Lead Pastor in planning services, and develop the volunteers who serve throughout the ministry. Musical and technical experience were important, but so were healthy relationships, emotional maturity, and a genuine heart for caring for others.

That combination became an important part of the search.

The Search Process

As Lincolnway began its search, the church was intentional about finding someone who could bring strong worship and technical leadership while also fitting well within its staff and volunteer culture.

Throughout the process, it became clear that the right person would need to be both a capable worship leader and an encouraging mentor.

Matthew’s experience and approach to ministry stood out as closely aligned with what Lincolnway was looking for. His background included both worship and technology leadership, while his heart for mentoring students and developing volunteers added another important dimension to his experience.

The Perfect Hire

Matthew Kijowski brought together many of the qualities Lincolnway was hoping to find in its next Worship Director.

His experience as a Worship and Tech Director included leading rehearsals and services, recruiting and developing volunteers, using Planning Center, and overseeing areas such as sound, ProPresenter, and livestreaming. His degree in Music in Worship and extensive piano background also gave him a strong musical foundation for the role.

But his experience was only part of what made him a strong fit.

During the interview process, Matthew expressed a clear connection with Lincolnway’s mission and culture. He was drawn to the church’s welcoming approach, its desire to make the Gospel accessible, and its intentional investment in children and families.

He also shared his passion for involving students in worship and helping them grow in confidence, musical ability, and faith. His desire to mentor others and develop worship volunteers aligned closely with Lincolnway’s focus on building healthy, engaged ministry teams.

Matthew’s emphasis on humble leadership, encouragement, and spiritual care also stood out. He wasn’t simply looking to lead a worship ministry. He wanted to help people grow, serve, and worship God sincerely.

That combination of musical experience, technical ability, and a genuine heart for people made Matthew a strong fit for Lincolnway Christian Church.
